WHY?

We have been hearing from clients the need for strategies: “I want to feel less anxious or more safe during birth” or they report feeling “lonely” during the season of pregnancy. You deserve to learn strategies that work to soothe your body during birth, understand you always have permission to ask for what you need, listen to your intuition, and work together with your medical team.

Finding your community: Building your village doesn't have to wait until your baby is born! Meet other moms who are in the same season as you and learn about other community resources.

MORE REASONS WHY YOU DESERVE THIS!

Choice and permission are not always offered by medical staff and doctors, and yet, we always have permission to ask for what we need at any point in the birth journey. We will teach role-playing what it feels like to speak up, speak assertively and say, “I need more time, can you explain the risks and benefits or other options, or I do not want to do that right now - what else can we try?”

Negative beliefs get activated in a trauma state, and fear, shame, and embarrassment are often the drivers. Knowing how to access the rational parts of the brain is key to preventing trauma. You can learn to “just notice or recognize” these emotions and their thoughts while knowing we have tools to soothe our system.

Lack of knowledge: Clients often report that their doctors don’t mention a birth plan or when asked, they say “let’s wait to see what happens.” This often creates anxiety about the unknown and uncertainty. Knowing and understanding our options and being flexible with all options will make for a less jarring and more informed experience.

CONSIDER OTHER CLASSES TOO, AND A DOULA!

This class is best utilized as a supplement to taking other child birth education classes that detail more in-depth information about the processes of labor, delivery, and the initial postpartum period. We encourage you to check out the packages and classes offered at Philomena Birth (just down the street, here in Red Bank), including their offerings on Phases of Labor, Medical Interventions, Natural Pain Management (& Labor positions), Newborn Care, Postpartum Planning, and more, which will not be covered in our class.

Additionally, we can't emphasize enough how important it is to consider working with a doula before and during your birth, to help create the safety you deserve. Mary and her team at philomenabirth.com are our go-to recommendation!
